At Crew Class, there’s no such thing as typical—but that’s exactly what makes it so special. For the past six years, we’ve been helping complete beginners discover the joy and benefits of rowing. Whether you’re 25 or 75, fit or just finding your feet, there’s a place for you in the Crew.
Crew Class is built on the idea that rowing should be accessible to everyone. Many of our members have never rowed—or even thought about rowing—before they join. And that’s exactly how it’s meant to be. Everyone starts at the same point: no experience, no expectations, just the willingness to try something new. We focus on teaching the correct technique in a supportive and fun environment. You don’t need to be a gym-goer, a marathon runner, or an athlete—just come as you are.
So, who shows up to a typical Crew Class? Honestly, it’s an amazing mix. Some come to lose weight, some to rebuild fitness, and others are drawn to rowing for its low-impact nature, especially after injuries or joint issues. We do have a few gym lovers who use Crew Class to round out their training, but most of our crew would say they’re not fitness fanatics—and that’s exactly the point. You don’t have to be.
One of the things we hear most from our rowers is how welcome they feel. There’s a unique parity of esteem in Crew Class; no matter your fitness level or background, everyone pulls together—literally. The rhythm of rowing means we all move as one, but at a pace that works for each person. That shared experience builds connection, trust, and a genuine sense of community.
And yes, you’ll get fit. Rowing works nearly every muscle group, boosts cardio health, and burns calories—all without punishing your joints. But more than that, Crew Class helps you build confidence, resilience, and friendships. You’re not just joining a fitness class; you’re becoming part of a Crew.
If you’ve never rowed before, you’re exactly who we’re looking for. Come try a class—no pressure, no pretence—just you, the rhythm of the Crew, and a team pulling together.
